　抄録　冬季に抑うつ気分，意欲減退，活動性低下，過眠，過食，糖質過剰摂取，体重増加が出現し，翌春に回復するパターンを繰り返した典型的な季節性感情障害の1症例を経験し，光パルス療法を試みた。

　入院後，病棟内治療室で，5,000lux白色光を用いて，午前6時から9時までの3時間，連日，光パルス療法を施行したところ，開始3日目から気分，意欲の改善，間食の減少，過眠の改善が認められ，1週間後にはほぼ寛解状態に達した。しかし，光パルス療法中止後4日目から再び抑うつ気分，意欲・活動性の低下などが出現し，1週間後には，ハミルトンうつ病評価尺度でも光パルス療法前の状態にまで悪化した。再度，同じ条件で光パルス療法を開始したところ，前回と同様に，3日目から気分，意欲の改善が認められ，効果の再現性が確認された。退院後，ポータブル治療器（4,000lux）で，午前9時から11時までの2時間，連日，光パルス療法を続行し，良好な状態を維持した。

　In recent years some groups confirmed that bright artificial light therapy (phototherapy) was an effective treatment for seasonal affective disorder. But no report on seasonal affective disorder has been made in Japan. A case of seasonal affective disorder is reported, whose winter depression remitted with phototherapy. The case was of a 29-year-old married woman. She had a history of depressive episodes that had recurred in winter and had remitted by the following spring, since the age of 18.
