ABSTRACT
This paper presents a novel hand-based interface that provides natural interactions with virtual objects augmented on a user's palm. In the interface, virtual objects are easily selected by drawing predefined patterns on a palm of one hand with a finger of the other hand and recognizing the patterns. The selected virtual objects are augmented on the palm by estimating palm poses. To efficiently detect the patterns drawn with the finger, its trajectories are tracked using a wearable type of a visual marker. By estimating a wide range of palm poses and recognizing finger gestures, a user can naturally interact with the virtual objects augmented on the palm at various viewpoints. The feasibility of the interface is verified through our experimental results.

VRCAI '09: Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Virtual Reality Continuum and its Applications in IndustryFor interactive augmented reality, vision-based and hand-gesture-based interface are most desirable due to being natural and human-friendly. However, detecting hands and recognizing hand gestures in cluttered background are still challenging. Especially,...
A real time vision-based hand gestures recognition system
ISICA'10: Proceedings of the 5th international conference on Advances in computation and intelligenceHand gesture recognition is an important aspect in Human-Computer interaction, and can be used in various applications, such as virtual reality and computer games. In this paper, we propose a real time hand gesture recognition system. It includes three ...
Real-Time Robotic Hand Control Using Hand Gestures
ICMLC '10: Proceedings of the 2010 Second International Conference on Machine Learning and Computingthis paper presents a new approach for controlling robotic hand or an individual robot by merely showing hand gestures in front of a camera. With the help of this technique one can pose a hand gesture in the vision range of a robot and corresponding to ...
