Abstract
This research investigates the types and contributions of DSS research conducted by major MIS doctoral institutions in the U.S. and Canada. The primary data for this study were gathered from a total of 692 citing articles in the DSS area over the past 20 years (1971-1990) and the database file of cited references that consists of a total of 15,030 records taken from the 692 citing articles. This research ranks 85 MIS doctoral institutions in the U.S. and Canada in terms of their contributions to decision support systems research during the period of 1971 through 1990 using a citation analysis. Among those doctoral institutions, three universities are identified as leading DSS research schools: MIT, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Texas-Austin.

Institutional impacts on decision support system research
This research extends a recent study that ranked the contributions of doctoral MIS institutions to decision support system research. That ranking was based on the frequency with which work of an institution's faculty has been cited in reference lists of ...

In this study, we explore the citedness of research data, its distribution over time and its relation to the availability of a digital object identifier (DOI) in the Thomson Reuters database Data Citation Index (DCI). We investigate if cited research ...
An analysis of citation functions in the humanities and social sciences research from the perspective of problematic citation analysis assumptions
Citation analyses are based on two questionable assumptions that significantly influence the value of citation count: the equal contribution assumption (i.e., each citation contributes equally to the citing paper) and the positive endorsement assumption ...
