Permanent pacemaker failure due to surgical emphysema.

    Abstract

    A 76 year old man developed a left pneumothorax after implantation of a permanent endocardial pacemaker via the left subclavian vein. The resulting surgical emphysema caused temporary failure of the pacing system.
