Girl with leukaemia will be treated privately

A 10 year old girl with leukaemia who last week was at the centre of a dramatic court battle over her health authority's refusal to fund last chance treatment is this week being treated at a private hospital after an anonymous donor came forward. The girl, named only as B, is undergoing chemotherapy and, if that works, will be given a bone marrow transplant. She is being treated by Dr Peter Gravett, a haematologist at the private Portland Hospital in London. The £75000 cost will be met by the unnamed benefactor, who made the offer after the family lost its battle in the Appeal Court.
