Abstract

For the first time, Tintinnopsis tocantinensis Kofoid & Campbell, 1929 was recorded in the ports of Novorossiysk and Tuapse in the Black Sea in October–November 2010. This tintinnid species is distributed in the neritic zone of the Indian Ocean, South Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and the Mediterranean Sea. The infusorian was evidently transported to the Black Sea via ballast waters of commercial ships.
