Abstract

The effect of plastic deformation and fatigue failure on the parameters of propagation of elastic waves has been studied experimentally. An algorithm for assessing the value of damage of metal alloys before the appearance of a macrocrack via measurements of the frequency-dependent damping and the acoustic-anisotropy parameter is proposed.
