Abstract

The possibilities of the application of new approaches for designing a neutron guide system for the PIK reactor, which are based on modern achievements in neutron optics and modern calculation techniques, are considered. The key idea lies in the application of individual neutron guides for each physical device, which are optimized for specific requirements. Results of Monte Carlo simulation for one of the neutron guides are given. They demonstrate gain in the flux of no less than 4.5 times in comparison with the use of a nonoptimal neutron guide.
