Design and alignment criteria for a simple, robust, diode-pumped femtosecond Yb:KYW oscillator

Abstract

We present an efficient, single-diode pumped, prismless Yb:KYW femtosecond laser and study its performance in the soft aperture, Kerr lens mode-locked operation. Practical directions are given to identify the conditions under which high-power, stable mode-locking can be obtained.
