Abstract

It is shown that the dielectric permittivity profile of a one-dimensionally inhomogeneous plate can be uniquely reconstructed if the reflection and transmission coefficients of the plate for s-polarized plane waves are known in a certain range of the angle of incidence. An algorithm for determining this profile based on the search for a unique zero minimum of a certain functional is proposed, and the efficiency of the algorithm is exemplified by the reconstruction of several homogeneous and inhomogeneous profiles.
