Abstract

The thickness of the cathode region was evaluated for some values of the γ-emission coefficient. Two solutions were obtained for the conditions γ > 10−4, thereby suggesting the possibility of existence of two structurally different forms of discharge. The estimates of the velocity of motion of ions in the cathode region show that the ion traveling mode is close to the free transit.
