Geosphere, April 2011, v. 7, p. 573-581, doi:10.1130/GES00617.1, Animation - This is a .mov file (best viewed with QuickTime software) of a three-dimensional visualization of the rock-fall detachment surface and adjacent cliffs below Glacier Point, Yosemite Valley, using repeat ground-based terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data. The first part shows a vertical transect of the TLS data for Glacier Point from the valley floor to the rock-fall source area. The second part shows a three-dimensional visualization of the failed rock mass by comparing the pre-rock-fall (blue) and post-rock-fall (yellow) interpolated surface models of the rock-fall source area. File size 34 MB.
