Abstract
Two important but little known fossil-bearing localities in the Rotliegend of the Saar-Nahe Basin are introduced. Their fossil content is listed, figured and discussed in palaeoecological terms. With the aid of sedimentological data the depositional setting in both cases can be characterized as that of a shallower to deeper profundal facies of larger lakes with at times well-oxygenated bottom waters under deltaic influence. Morphological and taxonomical aspects concerning some of the arthropods and palaeoniscoids are mentioned and a new taxon Meisenheimichthys breitenheimensis nov. gen. nov. sp. is raised.
Kurzfassung
Zwei wichtige, bislang wenig bekannte Fossilfundstellen im Rotliegend des Saar-Nahe Beckens werden vorgestellt. Ihr Fossilinhalt wird aufgelistet, größtenteils abgebildet und in paläoökologischer Hinsicht diskutiert. Mit Hilfe der sedimentologischen Daten lässt sich der Ablagerungsraum in beiden Fällen als flachere bis tiefere Profundalfazies größerer Seen mit zeitweiser guter Durchlüftung der bodennahen Wasserschichten im Einflussbereich eines Deltas interpretieren. Morphologische und taxonomische Aspekte hinsichtlich der Arthropoden und Palaeoniscoiden werden angesprochen und ein neues Taxon Meisenheimichthys breitenheimensis nov. gen. nov. sp. wird aufgestellt.
