Abstract

During field expeditions in the Atlantic Rain Forest, Caatinga and Cerrado in Brazil and revision of material deposited in Herbarium URM, sulphurous yellow basidiomata of Corticium sulphurosum were found. Subsequent morphological study of basidiomata and molecular analyses indicated that this species is congeneric with Rhizochaete, as well as Ceraceomyces sulphurinus and C. violascens, and the new combinations R. sulphurosa, R. sulphurina and R. violascens are proposed. Additionally, R. filamentosa is reported as new to the Brazilian Amazonia. A key to the species of Rhizochaete is provided.
