1 March 2006 Blind-pixel correction algorithm for an infrared focal plane array based on moving-scene analysis

Abstract
This paper presents a new blind-pixel correction and approximation algorithm based on moving-scene analysis for an infrared focal plane array. It is known that there exists strong correlation among neighboring images of an image sequence. By using moving-scene analysis, movement parameters can be estimated from an image sequence. Because the pixels in the previous frame will have strong correlation with the corresponding blind pixels in the current frame, the former can be used to correct or approximate the latter. Our proposed algorithm also can preserve the edges of target objects in the corrected image accurately. Theoretical analysis and experimental results have shown its effectiveness.
