Abstract:
The separable low complexity 2D HMM proposed in the paper by Othman and Aboulnasr (2003) builds on the assumption of conditional independence in the relationship between adjacent blocks. The authors view this assumption as the key assumption to reduce the complexity. In this communication, we show that this key assumption is entirely unnecessary
