Abstract:

A CMOS integratable current-mode analog function synthesizer circuit is presented. The proposed circuit is based on approximating the required function using the first three terms of its Taylor series expansion. These approximations can be implemented by adding the output currents of a weighted current square, a weighted current amplifier (or attenuator) and a constant current. The proposed circuit can simultaneously realize 18 different mathematical functions and can be easily expanded to accommodate others. SPICE simulation results demonstrating the circuit performance are included.
