Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to provide suggestions for developing events to engage donors and prospective donors.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper discusses and gives examples of programming to inspire support over time.

Findings

This paper proposes that for some segments of a library's stakeholder base, social gatherings can be effective means to cultivate relationships and build interest in philanthropic support.

Originality/value

The value of this paper is in its suggestions for promoting the library's needs and opportunities through events.
