New method for determining hexagonal direction indices and their relationship to crystallographic directions

Abstract: A new method for determining the hexagonal direction indices is introduced, which is more practical than other commonly used methods. The relationship between the crystallographic directions and hexagonal direction indices for face-centered cubic crystals is derived. Different sets of hexagonal indices for equivalent crystallographic directions are discussed.
