Abstract
We report the first high-resolution study of the nematic twist coefficient, , above the smectic- transition. The twist coefficient exponent, , is in reasonable agreement with x-ray studies of smectic- correlation length exponents, i.e., , and in good agreement with the smectic dilation coefficient exponent, . is less than the value and is nonuniversal.
