Abstract

Following a discussion of several simple gauge models for deriving four-fermion interactions to drive dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking in the spirit of Bardeen, Hill, and Lindner, we present a leptoquark model to this end. Consistency conditions fix the relevant couplings and fine-tuning fixes the scale of new physics. The need for such a fundamental theory is discussed, as is the difficulty that these theories present towards performing the necessary calculations with them, i.e., computing the lowest-dimension four-fermion interaction terms as well as higher-dimension operators.
