Abstract

We use measurements at the CERN and Fermilab Tevatron colliders to determine the values of the central eikonal and hence to estimate the energy dependence of the semihard component of the cross section for proton-antiproton scattering. We compare with QCD expectations obtained from gluon distributions which incorporate both singular small-x behavior and shadowing corrections. The expectations for the asymptotic form of the total pp cross section are discussed with emphasis given to the effects of gluon saturation.
