Abstract
We consider, in the context of the glueball theory of the theta(1700), the recent measurements by the Mark III Collaboration at the SLAC storage ring SPEAR, of the theta helicity-amplitude ratios x¯ and y¯, x¯=/, y¯=/, for the decay sequence ψ/J→thetaγ, theta→, where is the Jacob-Wick amplitude for theta helicity j, j=0,1,2. We find that the values of x¯ and y¯ are not obviously inconsistent with the interpretation of the theta(1700) as a bound state of two transverse-electric constituent gluons.
