Abstract

We consider, in the context of the glueball theory of the theta(1700), the recent measurements by the Mark III Collaboration at the SLAC e+e storage ring SPEAR, of the theta helicity-amplitude ratios and , x¯=A1/A0, y¯=A2/A0, for the decay sequence ψ/J→thetaγ, theta→KK+, where Aj is the Jacob-Wick amplitude for theta helicity j, j=0,1,2. We find that the values of and are not obviously inconsistent with the interpretation of the theta(1700) as a bound state of two transverse-electric constituent gluons.
