Abstract
An excitation function for the (p,αO reaction has been measured in the energy range =600–800 keV using a radioactive beam. A resonant state with a spin value of 3/ has been found at an energy of 652 keV above threshold. This =0 resonance is found to dominate the astrophysical reaction rate at temperatures ≳0.5. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
