Abstract

An excitation function for the F18(p)15O reaction has been measured in the energy range Ec.m.=600–800 keV using a radioactive F18 beam. A resonant state with a spin value of 3/2+ has been found at an energy of 652 keV above threshold. This lp=0 resonance is found to dominate the astrophysical reaction rate at temperatures T9≳0.5. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
