Abstract

The Si29(p,γ), Si29(p,p1γ), and Si29(p,p2γ) reactions have been studied in the energy range Ep=2.025–3.310 MeV. Thirteen previously unknown resonances were observed, and γ-ray strengths were measured for 51 resonances. Elastic and inelastic scattering differential cross sections were measured near 23 resonances in the energy region Ep=0.94–3.32 MeV which had not been previously observed in elastic scattering. These measurements represent the first step in experiments to establish a complete level scheme for P30 for the purpose of studying chaotic behavior in this system; the current state of knowledge of levels in P30 is briefly discussed.
