Radiative pion capture and pion photoproduction in a chiral bag model

Abstract

Radiative pion capture on nucleons is studied in a chiral bag model at pion laboratory momenta in the range qL∼300–500 MeV. We calculate dσ/dΩ and L-R asymmetry. Through detailed balance and time reversal invariance we also calculate dσ/dΩ and P(θ) (nucleon recoil polarization) for pion photoproduction at equivalent photon laboratory momenta. A detailed comparison is made with the data.
