Abstract

The threshold energy of the K39(p, n)Ca39 reaction has been measured to be 7503.8 ± 1.9 keV, confirming the need for a fairly large renormalization of the Gamow-Teller interaction inside Ca39. In addition, the result provides a secondary standard for the energy calibration of accelerators.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS Al27(p, n), Ep=57705840 keV, K39(p, n), Ep=74807530 keV, Ti46(p, n), Ep=79788024 keV, measured β+ yield. Enriched and natural targets, NE102 detector. Deduced reaction thresholds, renormalization constant for the Gamow-Teller interaction in Ca39.
