Abstract
A discussion is presented of the interaction between rotations and vibrations in nuclei, based on the generator coordinate method. As an example, a solvable model due to Moszkowski is studied. It is shown that the generator coordinate method describes adequately the dynamics of this type of motion, not only in the deformed zone, but also in the transition region, due to the softness of the system against deformations and to the Coriolis effect.
