Derivation of the diffusion equation and radiation boundary condition from the Fokker-Planck equation

Abstract

A new derivation of the diffusion equation and the radiation boundary condition (at a partially absorbing boundary) from the Fokker-Planck equation is presented. The range of validity of the diffusion equation is discussed.
