Abstract

Barrier characteristics, barrier height and position, were studied on spherical-deformed fusion reactions using the proximity potential. Spherical-prolate (β21=0.0, β22=0.340) and spherical-oblate (β21=0.0, β22=0.330) systems were tested in two different configurations and a pocket formula was presented that reproduced the theoretical values of barrier height and its position, with an accuracy of ±0.4% for both types of configuration. The results obtained from this work reveal the possibility of determining parametrization for barrier characteristics in deformed systems.
