Abstract
Barrier characteristics, barrier height and position, were studied on spherical-deformed fusion reactions using the proximity potential. Spherical-prolate (, ) and spherical-oblate (, ) systems were tested in two different configurations and a pocket formula was presented that reproduced the theoretical values of barrier height and its position, with an accuracy of 0.4 for both types of configuration. The results obtained from this work reveal the possibility of determining parametrization for barrier characteristics in deformed systems.
