The neutron inelastic scattering excitation function of the 3120-keV level in ${}_{}{}^{56}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Fe}$ has been determined from $\gamma$-ray production cross-section measurements. The best agreement between experiment and theory was obtained with a $0^{+}$ spin and parity assignment for this level.
