Abstract

Two theoretical papers have suggested the existence of an O16+16O+16O configuration in Cr48. We report on three experimental searches for the ternary breakup of Cr48 to the O16+16O+16O channel. No evidence is seen for the process. Upper limits for the cross section are reported. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
