Abstract

Light charged particle emission has been investigated as a function of excitation energy in exclusive experiments on the decay of O16, Mg24, and Cl35 projectiles between 25A and 70A MeV. The systematics of excitation energy removed by Z=1 and Z=2 particles were deduced. The results are similar to a previous study of proton and α-particle evaporation in compound nucleus reactions at beam energies below 20A MeV, supporting the idea of a common statistical process.
