Abstract

Calculations of polarized neutron-polarized He3 scattering are presented for the transverse and longitudinal total cross-section differences ΔσT and ΔσL in the energy range En=0.1 to 10 MeV. Predictions made from phase-shift analyses, R-matrix analysis, and a multichannel resonating group-model calculation are compared. The predictions are in qualitative agreement and show that polarized neutron-polarized He3 scattering is sensitive to the level structure of He4 in the excitation energy range 20–30 MeV.
