Abstract

Cross sections for elastic and inelastic pion scattering from C12 at 162 MeV at angles from 8° to 32° are presented. Standard static model distorted-wave impulse approximation calculations using realistic form factors show large disagreement with the forward angle data for elastic scattering and for exciting both the 21+ and 02+ states.
