Abstract

The He3(p,pp)2H and He3(p,pp)2H* reactions were investigated in a kinematically complete experiment at Ep=136 MeV for three angle pairs. The cross sections as a function of relative n-p energy were analyzed and compared to plane-wave impulse approximation predictions using one-boson exchange and Reid soft-core potentials to obtain detailed information about the He3 wave function. No clear preference was established for one potential over the other, but limits were established on the mixed symmetry component of the He3 wave function.

NUCLEAR REACTIONS He3(p,pp)2H, He3(p,pp)2H*, Ep=136 MeV, measured σ(E1, E2, θ1, θ2); PWIA OBE and RCS analysis, d/pn ratio.
