Abstract

The cross section and analyzing power for Mg24(p, p0)Mg24 have been measured at 13 angles and 11 energies in the vicinity of the 4.0 MeV resonance. A phase-shift analysis of the results yields a spin and parity assignment of 32+ in conflict with the accepted value of 52+.

NUCLEAR REACTION Mg24(p, p), E=3.894.17 MeV; measured σ(E, θ), P(E, θ); Al25 deduced resonance, J, Π, Γ, Γp; enriched target.
