Abstract

The β+ decay of the new isotope As67 to levels in Ge67 has been studied via the reaction Ni58(N14, αn)Asβ+6767Ge using 39- and 41-MeV N14 ions. The As67 half-life and total decay energy (QEC) have been measured to be 42.5 ± 1.2 s and 6.01 ± 0.10 MeV, respectively. The β+ decay scheme to 15 levels up to 2524-keV excitation in Ge67 has been determined and, based on measured logft values, a spin/parity constraint of 32 or 52 for the ground state of As67 has been established.

RADIOACTIVITY As67 [from Ni58(N14, αn)]: measured T12, Eγ, Iγ, γγ coin, Eβ+, β+γ coin; deduced decay scheme, mass excess, logft values, Jπ restrictions; Ge67 Jπ restrictions. Enriched targets, multiple rabbit, helium jet, Ge(Li) and plastic detectors.
