Abstract

The amounts of excess Xe128 and Xe130 in xenon which had been extracted by stepwise heating of an old telluride ore from the Mattagami Lake area, Quebec, indicate that the ββ-decay half-life of Xe128 exceeds that of Te130 by a factor of (1.57 ± 0.10) × 103. These results agree with the relative half-lives reported earlier for Te128 and Te130 in tellurides from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

RADIOACTIVITY ββ decay Te128 and Te130; measured excess Xe128 and Xe130; deduced relative T12 values.
