Abstract

X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) measurements performed at the Rh L2,3 edges and Pd L3 edge in Fe0.51Rh0.49 and Fe1.005(Rh0.85Pd0.15)0.995 evidence the instability of the Rh magnetic moment (μRh) through the ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition and demonstrate the induced nature of both μRh and μPd. In the case of Fe0.51Rh0.49 these experiments have also revealed the existence of a ferromagnetic ground state at low temperatures in which μRh0.7μB.
