Entanglement-based quantum key distribution without an entangled-photon source

A quantum key distribution scheme is described, in which a time (or phase) entangled-photon pair posteriorly generated by a single-photon source and a simple beam splitter. This scheme offers an efficient entanglement-based quantum key distribution system superior to the system using a standard parametric down-converter.
