Abstract

The Fe56(t, p)Fe58 reaction is studied with 12-MeV incident tritons and a multigap magnetic spectrograph. Angular distributions are obtained for more than 60 transitions, and from them, angular-momentum transfers and hence spins and parities of states in Fe58 are assigned. Results of the Fe57(d, p)Fe58 reaction are used in conjunction with these measurements to assign three unnatural parity states. The collective 3 state is at 3.88 MeV. The Fe54 and Fe56(t, p) reactions are compared.
