Abstract

The polarization of 40-MeV protons scattered by helium, lithium, carbon, aluminum, nickel, and lead has been measured using a polarized proton ion source in conjunction with the Minnesota Proton Linear Accelerator. Experimental procedures utilized in the measurements are discussed in detail. pα polarization measurements are compared with the theoretical predictions by Gammel and Thaler.
