Adapted from Early Development of Xenopus laevis, by Hazel L. Sive, Robert M. Grainger, and Richard M. Harland. CSHL Press, Cold Spring Harbor, NY, USA, 2000.

INTRODUCTION

Microinjection of Xenopus oocytes or embryos with messenger RNA (mRNA) is a powerful technique for studying development, including protein expression during development. This protocol describes a method for the preparation of secreted 35S-labeled proteins following mRNA microinjection into Xenopus oocytes.
