Abstract

For the first time for the Western macroslope of the Subpolar Urals, we identified 11 species of oribatid mites. Here we present a consolidated list of Oribatida of the Subpolar Urals which takes into account the previously published data and includes 46 species from 30 genera and 24 families. We identified dominant species of the Oribatida in different plant communities of the mountain-tundra belt: the grass-moss willow tundra on a spring bank, the dwarf birch-shrub-moss tundra and the dwarf shrub-lichen tundra. We conclude that one of the major factors affecting the distribution of the Oribatida in the mountain-tundra communities of the Kozhim River basin is the degree of moisture of their habitats.
