Abstract
alpha -particle emission during fission is described in a quantum mechanical model. It is assumed that the alpha -particle moves in the average, time-dependent potential of a fissioning nucleus. The Schrodinger equation for the alpha -particle is solved numerically. Outside the Coulomb barrier the alpha -particle motion is continued classically. The model relates the shape and time dependence of the fission process with the measured emission probability and the observed angular and energy distributions.
