Abstract

Many-body calculations of the 4s photoionization cross section of free Mn⁺ in both ground (Mn⁺(3d⁵4s¹ ⁷S)) and excited (Mn⁺*(3d⁵4s¹ ⁵S)) states are performed for the first time. Striking differences between these cross sections, caused by a non-trivial manifestation of multielectron correlation, are discovered.
