Abstract
A simple theory is proposed to explain the frequency response of solid-backed bolometers. It assumes a one-dimensional flow of heat through the bolometer and takes into account the diffusivity of the adhesive used for sticking the bolometer element to its base. The theory has been applied to measurements on some niobium nitride superconducting bolometers and the results are in good agreement with the known properties of the materials used.
