Abstract

The unusual, strong temperature dependence of the low temperature electrical resistivities of the Ni3Al and Ni3Ga intermetallic phases are analysed in terms of existing theories of scattering of conduction electrons by spin-density fluctuations. A qualitative agreement between theory and experiment is found but none of the theories can adequately describe the detailed behaviour of the resistivities as a function of temperature and bulk susceptibility.
