Abstract

The unusual, strong temperature dependence of the low temperature electrical resistivities of the Ni₃Al and Ni₃Ga intermetallic phases are analysed in terms of existing theories of scattering of conduction electrons by spin-density fluctuations. A qualitative agreement between theory and experiment is found but none of the theories can adequately describe the detailed behaviour of the resistivities as a function of temperature and bulk susceptibility.
