Abstract

The absorption spectrum for transitions from the ground to the first excited state in GaP:Ni(d8) contains a zero-photon line at 0.664 eV and phonon side-bands with a prominent peak at 41 meV. A model is proposed for the energy-level scheme which is consistent with published data on luminescence.
